AF-Area Mode (Viewfinder Photography): 3D-Tracking

You select the focus area. The camera focuses on the subject in the selected focus area when the shutter-release button is pressed halfway; as long as the shutter-release button is kept in this position, the camera will continue to track the subject as it moves through the frame.

Procedure

3D-traking can be selected by pressing the AF-mode button and rotating the sub-command dial until "3d" is displayed in the viewfinder and control panel.
