Overview

  • Switch instantly between two focal lengths of 600 mm and 840 mm thanks to a built-in 1.4x teleconverter, letting you capture every decisive moment.
  • Reach can be extended up to 1176 mm by using the built-in teleconverter together with an external 1.4x teleconverter*1, or as far as 1932 mm by taking advantage of the Z 9's video recording option*2.
    • *1AF performance may deteriorate depending on the subject, brightness and focus position regardless of the camera body, causing inaccurate focus, slow focusing speed or flashing of the focus indicator for electronic rangefinding.
    • *2When the [Frame size/frame rate] is set at [3840x2160; 120p], [3840x2160; 100p], [1920x1080; 120p] or [1920x1080; 100p] on the Z 9, and [DX] is selected for [Choose image area].
  • Remarkably lightweight body of approx. 3260 g/7 lb 3 oz and excellent body weight balance even with the built-in teleconverter, letting users shoot handheld and operate more freely.
  • The total length of approximately 437 mm makes it very practical for professionals to carry since it is optimized for the standard-sized bag for international flights.
  • Two fluorite lens, two SR lens, a Super ED glass and three ED glass elements effectively suppress various aberrations including chromatic aberration, delivering outstandingly sharp, high-resolution images from the maximum aperture — with or without the built-in teleconverter in use.
  • The bright maximum aperture of f/4 lets you use higher shutter speeds when shooting fast-moving subjects or in dark conditions. It also creates large, beautiful, natural bokeh that renders your subjects more three-dimensionally and helps them naturally stand out.
  • Thanks to the combination of Meso Amorphous Coat and Nano Crystal Coat, ghost and flare effects caused by incident light from various directions are significantly reduced, ensuring clear images even under harsh lighting conditions.
  • Nikon's Silky Swift VCM (SSVCM) AF drive motor combines a VCM (voice coil motor) and guide mechanism, realizing higher-speed, higher-accuracy, and quieter AF operation.
  • Amazingly powerful, 5.0-stop Vibration Reduction function ensures stable, blur-free images. Together with the Z 9, the effect extends to 5.5 stops with Synchro VR activation.
    • *Based on CIPA standard. This value is achieved when attached to a camera with full-frame/FX-format sensor, with the camera's VR function set to "NORMAL", and the built-in teleconverter disabled.
  • Highly robust magnesium alloy body delivers superior dust- and drip-resistant* performance, while fluorine coat adds enhanced antifouling performance.
    • *Thorough dust- and drip-resistance is not guaranteed in all situations or under all conditions.
  • Lens designed with careful consideration for video recording, including quiet AF, click-less control ring and focus-breathing compensation.
  • Controls such as L-Fn buttons, memory set button, Fn ring, control ring and focus ring can be operated without altering shooting posture, while the memory recall function enables immediate access to pre-registered frequently used focus positions.
