NIKKOR Z 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 VR S
S-Line
Overview
- The first super-telephoto zoom lens in the NIKKOR Z lineup covering a wide focal-length range from 100 to 400 mm enables the capture of a great variety of subjects.
- With the attachment of teleconverters*1, the telephoto focal-length range can be extended to 560 mm and 800 mm*2 while maintaining high optical performance.
- *1AF performance may deteriorate depending on the subject, brightness and focus position regardless of the camera body, causing inaccurate focus, slow focusing speed or flashing of the focus point.
- *2Focal length at the maximum telephoto position becomes 560 mm with the Z TELECONVERTER TC-1.4x, 800 mm with the Z TELECONVERTER TC-2.0x.
- While lateral chromatic aberration is optically corrected, axial chromatic aberration is also significantly reduced via the adoption of Super ED glass and ED glass elements, providing clear images across the entire frame from maximum aperture.
- Nikon's original Nano Crystal Coat and ARNEO Coat are both adopted to effectively reduce ghost and flare effects even in backlit situations.
- The shortest minimum focus distance of 0.75 m/2.46 ft (at the maximum wide-angle position) in its class* and the maximum reproduction ratio of 0.38x (at the maximum telephoto position) are both achieved.
- *Among full-frame interchangeable lenses with a focal length range of 100-400 mm and maximum apertures of f/4.5 - f/5.6 for digital cameras with interchangeable lenses, available as of October 28, 2021. Statement based on Nikon research.
- The built-in Vibration Reduction (VR) function provides an effect equivalent to a shutter speed 5.5 stops faster*, which is the highest among NIKKOR Z lenses.
- *Based on CIPA Standard; this value is achieved when attached to an FX-format camera with the camera's VR function set to "NORMAL", and when zoom is set to the maximum telephoto position.
- The "Inner Balance Technology", a first for Nikon models, reduces shifting of the center of gravity when zooming in and out, maintaining the angle of the lens when zooming.
- Features a zoom mechanism that prevents unexpected lens extension/retraction due to its own weight, ensuring safe use during shooting and when carrying it around.
- The shortest rotation angle of 80 degrees in its class* for the zoom ring enables users to zoom in/out with one motion, without adjusting lens holding.
- *Among full-frame interchangeable lenses with a focal length range of 100-400 mm and maximum apertures of f/4.5 - f/5.6 for digital cameras with interchangeable lenses, available as of October 28, 2021. Statement based on Nikon research.
- Multi-focusing system that utilizes two STMs (stepping motors), enabling fast, precise and quiet AF operation for both stills and videos.
- Genuine video recording performance is attained by intensive consideration even of details such as focus-breathing compensation, quiet operation and stable exposure.
- Superb dust- and drip-resistant capability*, and Nikon's fluorine coat applied to the front lens element deliver enhanced reliability.
- *Thorough dust- and drip-resistance is not guaranteed in all situations or under all conditions.
