Overview

  • The zoom range of 12-28 mm* starting from the widest angle of view among APS-C size/DX-format lenses is suitable for shooting various scenes, from selfies to dynamic scenery, with a single lens.
    • *Angle of view is equivalent to that of an 18-42 mm lens in full-frame/FX-format.
  • The adoption of a power zoom, a first for NIKKOR Z lenses, realizes smooth, comfortable zooming via its quietness, internal zoom mechanism, selectable zoom speed and a variety of operational options.
  • The minimum focus distance of 0.19 m/0.62 ft and maximum reproduction ratio of 0.21x enable dynamic close-up shots and tabletop photos with excellent rendering performance by boldly getting closer to subjects.
  • Equipped with an optical vibration reduction (VR) function that provides a blur-reduction effect equivalent to a shutter speed 4.5 stops faster*. A stable VR effect can be achieved in combination with the Z 30, Z fc or Z 50 body.
    • *Based on CIPA Standard. This value is achieved when attached to an APS-C size/DX-format camera with the camera's VR function set to "NORMAL", and when zoom is set to the maximum telephoto position.
  • Despite being an ultrawide-angle lens, an extremely light weight and compact design are realized, making it easy to carry around for a long time during travel or on daily walks.
  • Thanks to the high flexibility of the design of the Z mount system, superb optical performance is achieved throughout the zoom range.
  • Advantageous features for video recording include quiet drive sound and smooth zoom operation with minimal shifting of the center of gravity, as well as effectively suppressed focus breathing.
    • *Zooming during video recording may record lens' operational sounds in the footage. Rotate the zoom ring slowly when this is a concern. When using the power zoom with button operation, it is recommended to select a slower zoom speed.
  • Comfortable and smooth operation of the control ring and zoom ring is ensured via distinguishable design that prevents any operational error.
  • Designed with consideration for dust- and drip-resistant performance*, enabling users to take it anywhere with greater confidence.
    • *Thorough dust- and drip-resistance is not guaranteed in all situations or under all conditions.
