Overview

• FX-format compatible, super-telephoto prime lens with 500 mm^* focal length and f/5.6 maximum aperture.
  • *When attached to a DX-format D-SLR, the angle of view is equivalent to that of a 750 mm lens in FX/35mm format.
• Via the adoption of a PF (Phase Fresnel) lens element, an outstandingly compact and lightweight body is realized for agile shooting.
• The latest optical design delivers high resolution optimized for high-megapixel digital cameras, minimizing color fringing via effective chromatic aberration compensation. Also, by adopting newly developed lens materials, flare effect due to the characteristics of the PF lens is optimally controlled. As a result, light sources can be reproduced in near-original colors.
• Nano Crystal Coat that provides superb ghost and flare reduction even under harsh lighting such as backlight, as well as other Nikon coating technologies contribute to producing clearer images.
• By employing a lighter focus lens group, higher AF speed is achieved, assuring superb subject-tracking performance.
• The Vibration Reduction (VR) function providing an effect equivalent to a shutter speed 4.0 stops^* faster in NORMAL mode also offers SPORT mode that is particularly effective for shooting quickly and erratically moving subjects.

• The lens body was designed carefully considering dust- and drip-resistant performance for enhanced reliability, while Nikon's original fluorine coat is applied to the front lens surface to ensure high antifouling performance.
