Select Flat to display the softness of the confectionary. Increase brightness and set clarity to the minus side to create a more cheerful and attractive impression.

Adjustment of parameter 1
Press ► of a multi selector to go to the adjustment display and set -0.5 for contrast and +0.75 for saturation.

Set -3.5 for clarity* and +1.5 for brightness.

*If you change clarity in live view shooting, the selected value will be applied to the image but cannot be seen on the live view display.

Further elaboration ― RAW processing with Capture NX-D

Elaborate your image further using Capture NX-D. The softness of confectionary can be emphasized slightly more by brightening the overall image using tone curve.

Step 1

Activate Capture NX-D and open the NEF (RAW) image* taken using Picture Control with the parameter adjusted as above within the camera.
*Even if the adjustments above were not applied to your image, if the image is taken in RAW, it is possible to make all the adjustments using Capture NX-D.

Step 2

Brighten the overall image to produce softness.
Increase the brightness of the overall image using Levels & Tones.

Step 3

Increase saturation and brighten the shadow areas.
Emphasize saturation with Tone and increase brightness in shadows using Tone (Detail).
