Nikon 1 AW1

Camera Functions

AF-Area Mode

Nikon 1 cameras let you control how the focus area is selected through a selection of AF-area modes that includes subject tracking and auto-area and single-point AF. AF-area mode selection is also available when the camera is used to record movies.

Auto area
Single point

Auto Area:
The camera automatically detects the subject and selects the focus area.

Single Point:
Use for static subjects. Press the OK button to view the focus-area selection display, then use the multi selector to position the focus area over your subject and press OK again. When the shutter-release button is pressed halfway, the camera will focus on the subject in the selected focus area only.

Single point (center)
Subject tracking

Single Point (Center):
This option is available only when Underwater is selected in creative mode. The camera focuses only on the subject in the center of the frame.

Subject Tracking:
Use with moving subjects. The camera tracks the subject in the selected focus area as it moves through the frame.

Procedure

01. To display the shooting menu, press the MENU button.
02. Select Shooting > AF-area mode > Auto-area/Single-point/Subject tracking.
