To help the photographer enjoy the stress-free experience of the highly evolved 51-point autofocus system, Nikon has brought the exceptional operability of the Multi Selector to AF operation as well. The Multi Selector enables not just vertical and horizontal movement but also diagonal movements, to achieve smooth pinpointing of a single focus point among the 51 possible points. The Multi Selector offers just the right thickness, size, torque and flexibility to send tactile feedback to the photographer’s fingers. The Custom Setting menus can be used to assign a playback zoom feature to the Multi Selector center button, allowing the playback image to be zoomed with a single click to check focus. This realizes fluid operation during time-critical photo shoots. The 51 selectable focus points and display can be reduced to 11 points via the Custom Setting menu. With the 11 selectable focus points display, all 51 points function for autofocusing. Moreover, AF fine-tuning lets you fine-tune autofocus positions collectively or individually for each lens.
