Special mention item
Mainly based on the "Nikon S3" (as the successor of "Nikon S2"), the "SP" was designed to challenge almost all the technical possibility with maintaining the compatibility of previous lenses and accessories.
The 1 x magnification finder was illuminating window type and four (4) bright frames, 5 cm, 8.5 cm, 10.5 cm and 13.5 cm could be set in addition one after another and the parallax was automatically compensated.
And 2.8 cm entire-field-of -view finder incorporating the frame for 3.5 cm (black) was arranged just next to the life-size finder.
Travelling speed of the shutter curtain was further accelerated and the clap of the shutter brake was made minimum.
Shutter dial was evolved into one-axis non-rotary dial and was made possible to couple with the exclusive exposure meter "Nikon Meter" (linked with shutter speed only).
By the way, for the shutter curtain produced after the release of "Nikon F" (1959), titanium was used instead of the former silk cloth ("Habutae" silk).
Frame counter was changed to automatic reset by detaching and attaching of the rear cover, and coupling mechanism for Motor Drive was prepared beforehand.
And, a self-timer was also built-into the front of the body for the first time in Nikon.
