The D300 features two Live View modes that let you use the 3-inch high-resolution LCD monitor in place of the viewfinder to confirm your subject and composition while shooting. Hand-held mode is useful when you want to recompose before shooting or shoot freely from various angles. Tripod mode is highly effective in achieving pinpoint focus on still subjects.
A great help when shooting from high or low angles that make it difficult to see through the viewfinder, Hand-held mode employs standard TTL phase-detection AF and uses all 51 AF points, including the 15 cross-type sensors.
Tripod mode is ideal for still life photography in a studio environment. High-precision focal plane contrast AF achieves pinpoint focus on the selected point within the frame, using information from the D300's CMOS image sensor to focus automatically while the AF-ON button is pressed. The ability to zoom in up to 13 times on the 3-inch LCD monitor allows for even more precise focus adjustment.
Easily confirm the shot and control Live View's Tripod mode from your computer using Nikon's optional Camera Control Pro 2 software.
