Common buzzards lurked over snow-clad fields where food is rather scarce and hardly visible. They cannot afford to lose even a little nibble. This photograph is a depiction of the birds’ instinct for survival, further enhanced by their instinct for power. Feelings towards this work and how it interprets "At the heart of the image" I take great pleasure in the challenge of photographing these noble birds this close. They are living their everyday lives while I attempt to watch them up close. I want to share these moments of beauty and struggle by capturing their lives through the lens of my camera. Further comments To find food under the thick layer of snow is a great challenge, these birds have to fight each other frequently over their food. This fight is almost invisible by the naked eye. As the camera captures this moment in 1/2000 of a second we can witness the seriousness and ferociousness in their fight for survival.
