| Born in Akita in 1945, Mr. Nakamura developed an interest in diving and underwater photography before beginning work on a photographic magazine. He then went on to become freelance. |

| Currently directing a photographic agency entitled "Squall", his key subject matter includes the sea, nature in Japan and abroad, and the environment in general. In addition to his body of work centering on Tokyo Bay, Mr. Nakamura is also an active photojournalist with particular interest in several social themes including the issue of the disputed Isahaya Bay. |

| Not only is Mr. Nakamura engaged in the capture of stills, but his work also includes commercial films for TV and Hi-Vision images for theatrical films. He also reports on the enchantment of oceans and speaks on environmental problems through various media such as lectures, presentations, publications, TV and radio. Among the many awards he has received are the Photographic Society of Japan Annual Award (2007), the Domon Ken Award (2007), the Kodansha Shuppan Bunka-sho Shashin Award (1997) and the Kimura Ihe-e Shashin Award (1988). Mr. Nakamura is a member of the Japan Professional Photographers Society, the Photographic Society of Japan, and the Society of Scientific Photography, Japan. |
