| Born in Tokyo in 1947, Mr. Unno has a keen interest in the world of insects. During his student years at Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, his photographs documenting the behavior of Pieris melete butterflies were published in a magazine - inspiring him to begin his career as a professional photographer. After spending many years photographing insects in the tropical forests of Asia and South America, he eventually settled in Nagano in 1990, where he keeps a record of the nature around him and maintains a photo diary on the Web site he started in 1999. |

| His published works include "Konchu-no Gitai(Camouflage and Mimicry of Insects)", which received a 1994 Annual Award from the Photographic Society of Japan, as well as "Chou-no Tobu Fukei(Butterflies)", "Digi-Came Shizen Kansatsu-no Susume" and "Konchu-no Sekai-e Yokoso". Mr. Unno has also appeared on TV several times and is the vice president of the Society of Scientific Photography, Japan, a board member of the Japan Henri Fabre Society, and a member of various societies including the Japan Professional Photographers Society and the Japan Ethological Society and since April 2007, a consultant to Nikkor Club. |
