Neutral
Minimal processing for natural results. Choose for photos and movies that will later be extensively processed or retouched.
Vivid

Active D-Lighting for capturing images just as they look in reality

Capture images exactly the way you see them with Nikon's Active D-Lighting, which renders details in highlights and shadows.

Beautifully combine the bright and dark with HDR

The HDR (High Dynamic Range) mode is excellent for shooting high-contrast landscapes and stationary subjects. In this mode, the camera takes two shots within a single shutter release at different exposures: one overexposed and the other underexposed. The two images are then combined to deliver a beautiful image that brings to life an extensive range of tones.

FT1 Mount Adapter for NIKKOR lens owners

The FT1 Mount Adapter has been especially designed so that the extensive lineup of NIKKOR lenses may be used with Nikon 1. The FT1 keeps the f-number of your existing F-mount NIKKOR lenses intact and delivers the same brightness. Because you can obtain an angle of view equivalent to the focal length that is approx. 2.7 times that of the F-mount NIKKOR lenses, you can use standard lenses as telephoto lenses and telephoto lenses as super-telephoto lenses to get closer to the action. The FT1 also supports auto exposure/autofocus* and Vibration Reduction.

  • *Autofocus is available only with AF-S NIKKOR lenses. Some other restrictions apply.

Enjoy high-definition images on TV through HDMI output

Connect Nikon 1 to your HDTV with an HDMI cable and enjoy your beautiful photos and movies on the big screen. You can use your television's remote control to play back images and movies*.

  • *Only available for HDMI-CEC compatible TVs.

Bounce the flash light off the wall with a SB-N7 Speedlight

The SB-N7 Speedlight, with a guide number of approx. 22.8/74.8 (m/ft, ISO 160, 20°C/68°F), is optimal for capturing subjects in low light or in backlit situations. The flash head can tilt up to 120 degrees, making it possible to bounce light off the ceiling or wall to depict softer, more natural shade under the chin of your subject. Available in black or white, this highly compact flash enables you to expand your creativity with ease.
